MOTS-C is a mitochondrial-derived peptide (MDP), a 16-amino-acid signaling peptide encoded by an open reading frame within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene, first identified in 2015. It is a widely studied target in metabolism and aging research. Acting as a mitochondria-to-nucleus signaling molecule, MOTS-C translocates from mitochondria into the nucleus under metabolic stress to modulate nuclear gene expression. It primarily regulates whole-body energy homeostasis via activation of the AMPK pathway.

Research areas include insulin sensitivity modulation, glucose uptake and fatty acid thermogenesis. Animal studies demonstrate its capacity to improve exercise endurance and mimic metabolic adaptations induced by physical activity. It also alleviates oxidative stress and suppresses chronic low-grade inflammation. Common research applications cover age-related metabolic decline, skeletal muscle preservation, vascular endothelial protection and bone metabolism regulation.

This product is synthesized by solid-phase peptide synthesis. Every batch is verified by HPLC and mass spectrometry with a COA certificate provided. Impurity levels are tightly controlled, suitable for in vitro cell assays and animal model studies and other non-clinical laboratory research.
