SNAP-8, also named Acetyl Octapeptide-3, is a synthetic biomimetic octapeptide specially designed to simulate the N-terminal fragment of SNAP-25 protein. It is developed as an optimized upgraded variant of Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (Argireline), extended by two extra amino acid residues to strengthen binding affinity toward the SNARE complex, making it a widely researched peptide in skin biochemistry and cosmetic raw material laboratory studies.

At the molecular level, SNARE complex assembly controls the fusion of synaptic vesicles and the release of acetylcholine neurotransmitters at neuromuscular junctions. SNAP-8 competitively occupies the binding site of SNAP-25, interfering with the complete assembly of SNARE protein complex. This competitive inhibition suppresses excessive release of neurotransmitters, moderating the over-contraction of local facial expression muscles. Unlike botulinum neurotoxin which permanently cleaves target proteins, SNAP-8 works in a reversible, mild non-toxic mode, which makes it an ideal research object for exploring dynamic expression wrinkles induced by repeated muscle movement, such as forehead lines and crow’s feet.

The terminal acetylation and amidation modification of SNAP-8 greatly improves its resistance to enzymatic hydrolysis. This structural design helps the peptide maintain integrity when penetrating epidermal layers in topical delivery research, and enhances its stability in liquid cosmetic formulation screening experiments. Our SNAP-8 powder is manufactured by solid-phase peptide synthesis technology, followed by multiple cycles of reversed-phase HPLC purification and low-temperature vacuum lyophilization. The lyophilization procedure removes residual solvent and water, minimizing peptide degradation during international transportation and long-term cold storage. Each production batch undergoes strict QC screening, mass spectrometry verifies molecular weight matching, HPLC provides purity fingerprint, and impurity indicators are fully controlled to meet the requirements of cell in-vitro tests and formula development trials.

This peptide is commonly applied in multiple research directions: skin anti-aging mechanism research, transdermal delivery system exploration, multi-peptide compound formulation development, in-vitro skin tissue model evaluation, and the comparison study of different anti-wrinkle peptides. Researchers often combine SNAP-8 with GHK-Cu, Matrixyl and other bioactive peptides to investigate synergistic biological effects.

Attention should be paid to operation during experiment preparation. After dissolution, SNAP-8 aqueous solution is vulnerable to protease degradation. It is recommended to split the reconstituted liquid into single-use aliquots, avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Operations should be carried out under low-humidity conditions to prevent moisture absorption and activity decline of lyophilized powder.
