GHK-Cu is a naturally derived tripeptide-copper chelate complex originally isolated from human plasma. Its unique 1:1 coordination bond between the tripeptide backbone and cupric ion is essential for its biological activity, differentiating it from free GHK peptide without bound copper ion. This molecule acts as a multi-functional signalling modulator rather than a single-target agonist, capable of regulating fibroblast behaviour and balancing matrix synthesis and degradation in tissue models.

Researchers utilize GHK-Cu to investigate mechanisms of extracellular matrix remodelling. It can modulate the expression of collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans, while also tuning the activity of matrix metalloproteinases. Besides matrix-related research, it is widely adopted in antioxidant and anti-inflammation studies, as it can reduce reactive oxygen species and regulate inflammatory cytokine release in multiple cell models.

The raw material is produced via solid-phase peptide synthesis followed by copper chelation and lyophilization. Lyophilization minimizes copper ion dissociation during storage.
